begin where you are
Mindfulness meditation can help you listen to your experience and discover who you are and what you need. Students that commonly seek to learn meditation struggle with but are not limited to the following:
anxiety (social, expectations, perfection)
sleep issues (too much, not enough)
depression (isolation, unhelpful and/or harmful thoughts and feelings)
addictions (substances, process - shopping, gambling, etc)
confusion about life (belonging, needs, values)
Meditation practice and psychotherapy go together well and are common to practice at the same time. Many students find that a consistent practice can deepen both self awareness and the theraputic alliance and outcomes. Collaboration between teacher and therapist can be healing and very supportive for the student.
trauma-sensitive mindfulness
Everyone deserves to have access to mindfulness practice. The tools we teach are effective ways for trauma survivors to cultivate practice and guide through transformation. Traumatic experiences can stem from childhood or happened while an adult either repeatedly or during a significant event or both. Choosing to practice mindful awareness is complex, the thoughts and feelings that arise can be uncomfortable. You may be new to meditation, have tried meditation before, or practiced for a period of time then took a break. Whatever your path, we provide you with regulating tools to support you and safely explore your world.
connection with resources & community
Much of healing and transformation happen in the presence of others and community. In addition to 1 to 1 sessions, we suggest exploring your local meditation groups, our current groups, and available resources from insightful practitioners and their communities to cultivate wholeness and belonging. These resources can be an excellent companion and help deepen your practice.
